The 2027 Bronco Filson: Ford Built a Bronco You Wear In, Not Out

I've sold a lot of Broncos. I've handed keys to Badlands buyers, 60th Anniversary buyers, and the folks who walk in already knowing exactly which Raptor they want. But every once in a while Ford drops something that makes me stop mid-scroll, and the 2027 Bronco Filson did exactly that.

This one's different. Let me tell you why.

The Story Starts in 2020

This isn't Ford and Filson's first rodeo. Back in 2020, right as the new Bronco was hitting the scene, the two brands teamed up on the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig concept. It was built on a four-door Bronco with the Sasquatch Package, painted Forest Service Green like the original U.S. Forest Service Broncos, and loaded with a fire skid, a 50-gallon water tank, a winch and a pile of gear. Filson brought its otter green duck canvas for the door bolsters and armrests, plus quilted black leather inspired by its jacket linings.

It wasn't just a cool show car. The project raised money for the National Forest Foundation, and Ford donated two firefighting Broncos to crews through the Bronco Wild Fund. Filson's own words at the time were that crews leaned on Filson Cruiser jackets and first-gen Broncos to reach remote terrain. That's real history, and it's why this partnership feels earned instead of slapped on.

Filson, by the way, is a Seattle outfitter that's been making outdoor gear and workwear since 1897. Ford revealed the Bronco Filson outside Seattle on June 3, 2026, which felt about right.

What's Under the Hood (This Is the Part I Love)

Here's the headline for the performance guys: the Bronco Filson is the first non-Raptor Bronco to get the 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.

Read that again. Not a Raptor. And it's got the Raptor's engine.

Now, Ford hasn't published exact horsepower and torque numbers. They say it's tuned specifically for this truck, and their description is "big horsepower, but not dramatic about it." Some outlets expect output to land close to the Raptor's 418 hp and 440 lb-ft, but that's an expectation, not a spec sheet. I'll update you the second Ford gives us real numbers.

It also comes standard with the Sasquatch Package, so the off-road hardware is right there from day one. Underneath it all is the same high-strength steel ladder frame the Bronco has always had. Ford says it was built for the Bronco, not borrowed from somewhere else.

The Cabin: Nicest Bronco Yet

I tell customers all the time that a Bronco is a great place to get dirty. The Filson might be the first one that's also a great place to recover.

•Heated AND ventilated front seats. Ventilated seats are a first for any Bronco, and the rear seats are heated too.
•B&O sound system. Premium audio, finally.
•A quieter ride. Acoustic glass and improved seals cut road noise by about 20% compared to earlier Broncos. Ford is calling it potentially the quietest Bronco cabin ever.
•Leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-trimmed seating with green accents.

Then there's the Filson stuff, and this is where it gets fun. Heavy-stitched leather grab handles. Custom Bronco Filson badging. Canvas-and-leather door storage pockets so your most-used gear is right at hand. And custom Filson canvas cargo bags that mount to the rear interior frame so you're not playing luggage Tetris.

Ford's design philosophy is the part that sold me. The idea is a Bronco you wear in rather than wear out, like a good Filson jacket that looks better after a few seasons of abuse. Ford specifically said they didn't want to build a luxury Bronco owners would be afraid to use. Good. Mud is supposed to happen.

The Look

On the outside the Filson carries its own identity, with its own grille treatment, wheels and badging. The 2027 Bronco Filson also nods to Filson's long history supplying forestry and natural resource crews, with a "Bronco Firecrew" emblem and a reversed Bronco nameplate on the hood lip that gives off emergency-vehicle vibes. Pay attention to the "Fire" script with the American flag on the sides, too.

A lot of people are comparing it to the Eddie Bauer Bronco of the '90s, and I get it. Same spirit: a rugged truck with a premium outdoor brand's fingerprints all over it. Except this one's got a Raptor-family engine and Sasquatch hardware. Eddie never had it that good.

The Numbers You Care About

•Built at: Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, same plant that's built every modern Bronco since 2021.
•First Edition: a limited run of 2,500 units to celebrate the launch.
•Orders: opening this fall.
•Deliveries: early 2027.
•Price: not announced yet. I won't guess, but I'll say this plainly: don't expect it to be cheap. This is a new premium trim sitting above the usual Bronco crowd.
•Staying power: Ford Authority reports this isn't a one-year gimmick. The Filson is expected to stick around in the lineup.
•Apparel: a limited-edition Bronco x Filson gear collection launches alongside it.

My Take

Here's what I keep coming back to. For years the Bronco menu has basically been: pick your capability level. Now Ford added a different question: how nice do you want the ride between the trails?

If you want to take a Raptor and fly across the desert at crazy speed, the Raptor's still the king. But if you want to spend your weekend chasing rivers and back roads, with a quiet cabin, ventilated seats and a gear setup that looks like it was packed by someone who's actually been outdoors, the Filson is the one making sense to me.

And the engine. A Raptor-family V6 in something that isn't a Raptor? That's the part my performance-nerd brain can't let go of.

Want One?

Order banks are opening this fall and the First Edition run is only 2,500, so this is a "don't wait" situation. If you want to talk Bronco Filson, build one, or get your name on the list, come find me at Holler Ford in Maitland, Florida, or hit me up on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Threads at @BeardedManSellsFords.

Go out and make some memories, y'all.
